Through the presentation of our work, JMTC Theatre combines art and advocacy, partnering with national and international non-profit organizations to raise funds and awareness and to connect audience members with available resources pertaining to social issues that are the fabric and focus of our plays including sexuality, child abuse, child sexual abuse, domestic violence, addiction, adoption and adoptee rights.
Originally known as The John Montgomery Theatre Company, the company was founded in London by the late great actor and producer, Patrick Hillan, who named the company after his father, the late great John Montgomery Hillan, who encouraged Patrick (then called Neil), while all secondary school advisors had much more limited ideas, to attend to the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art in London - which he did. Patrick’s early vision of the company included ambitious and diverse repertory seasons featuring both classics and original works and the creation of a unique white box theatre in Chelsea where the configuration changed show to show. He fondly nicknamed the company JMTC.
